Yarmouth Recreation provides recreation programming and services for the residents of both the Town of Yarmouth and the Municipality of Yarmouth. Yarmouth Recreation is given direction and recommendations from the Recreation Committee. Yarmouth Recreation continuously strives to improve the quality and condition of our facilities, increase the availability of recreation and leisure programming for area residents, and ensure optimal customer service.

Yarmouth Recreation is searching for a dynamic, organized, and energetic individual to assist in the coordination and facilitation of registered programs, summer day camp programs, special events, and multi-sport programs. Recreation is the experience that results from freely chosen participation in physical, social, intellectual, creative, and spiritual pursuits that enhance individual and community well-being.

School Year Positions

Recreation Gym Supervisors

The recreation gym supervisor is a front-line position. Yarmouth Recreation has made Community Use arrangements with school facilities, during which times we are responsible for providing supervision of these facilities during community-sponsored activities. These activities may include sports, birthday parties, recreation programs, meetings, and events.

This position is held seasonally from October – June. This position is part-time, and hours range from 10-20 hours per week.


Recreation Program Leader

The Recreation Program Leader will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of Yarmouth Recreation programs and events, by coordinating with team members to ensure effective delivery. This includes providing all necessary equipment, tracking participation, and ensuring all participant’s waivers are signed prior to the implementation of activities. The successful candidate must be a team player who is willing to work with others, including other staff members, parents/guardians, and the general public.

This position is held seasonally from October – June. This position is part-time, and hours range from 10-20 hours per week.


Summer Positions

Assistant Recreation Supervisor – 1 Position

The Assistant Recreation Supervisor will gain practical experience through developing community-based programming. They will build competency in project planning, community networking, data collection, safety assessments, documentation, critical thinking, and online marketing or promotion. The Assistant Recreation Supervisor will support the successful implementation of the department’s day camp programs, pop-up events, and large community events. Additionally, the Assistant Recreation Supervisor may be asked to research programs and develop program plans that can be implemented in our community. The Assistant Recreation Supervisor may be asked to perform community engagement sessions to collect research and feedback on future and existing programs. The Assistant Recreation Supervisor will provide administrative support in the department’s office by answering phones, taking bookings, and program registrations.

This position is held seasonally from May to August, 14 weeks. This position is full-time, five days per week with hours from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.


Day Camp Supervisor – 1 Position

The Day Camp Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the successful implementation of Yarmouth Recreation’s day camp programs. The Day Camp Supervisor will act as the bridge of support for day camp coordinators by purchasing equipment for programs, delivering paperwork, and creating promotions and publications. The Day Camp Supervisor will provide shift coverage to team members at day camps and events to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained. The Day Camp Supervisor will provide administration support in the department’s office by answering phones, taking bookings, and program registrations.

This position is held seasonally from May to August, 14 weeks. This position is full-time, five days per week with hours from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.


Recreation Administration and Events Assistant – 1 Position

The Recreation Administration and Events Assistant responsibilities include coordinating registration for recreational activities, managing schedules and appointments, responding to inquiries, and maintaining organized records related to recreational programs. The Recreation Administration and Events Assistant will be proficient in Microsoft Office, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic, community-focused environment. Recreation Facility Attendant – 2 Positions

The Recreation Facility Attendant will work outside in various weather conditions. The work will involve physically demanding jobs such as operating equipment and tools to complete grounds maintenance tasks; raking, shoveling, and digging; lifting and moving heavy objects Applicants must possess a Valid Class 5 Driver’s license to operate truck and tractors, first aid and WHMIS is required. Training will be provided to those without valid certification.

This position is held seasonally from May to August, 14 weeks. This position is full-time, five days per week with office hours from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.


Trails, Parks, and Activity Coordinator – 1 Position

Trails, Parks, and Activity Coordinator (TPAC) will work under the direct supervision of the Active Living Coordinator, the TPAC will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the Yarmouth Recreation physical activity wellness plan through the development of community programs and special events. The TPAC will through careful and creative planning and promotion develop activities and events within the community that promote a healthy lifestyle. The TPAC will provide equipment to community members, set up large events, and develop daily pop-up activities and instruction for the use of recreation equipment.

This position is held seasonally from June to August, 12 weeks. This position is full-time, five days per week with office hours from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.


Day Camp Coordinator – 3 Positions

The Day Camp Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of a Yarmouth Recreation Day Camp program. A Day Camp Coordinator will be responsible for the programming of daily activities for children ages 4-8, 9-11, and 12-15. The Coordinator will identify and confirm all resources required for the program, during and before programs coordinators will interact with parents/guardians and participants regularly, and ensure other staff are engaging, participating, and creating an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible program. Each coordinator will be required to supervise staff and volunteers during their program.

This position is held seasonally from June to August, 12 weeks. This position is full-time, five days per week with office hours from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.


Lake Milo Aquatic Coordinator – 2 Positions

The Milo Coordinators will be the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of an aquatic boat rental shop. The Lake Milo Aquatic Coordinators will be expected to administer aquatic programs, provide kayak/canoe rentals, and perform safety inspections, and custodial work while ensuring the building security. Lake Milo Aquatic Coordinators are an essential front-line team dedicated to customer service in a multi-tasked environment.

This position is held seasonally from June to August, 10 weeks. This position is full-time shift work with various hours. Milo Boat House is open from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM daily.


Day Camp Leader – 7 Positions

Day Camp Leaders will be responsible for providing supervision to program participants. A Day Camp Leader will be responsible for the implementation of planned daily activities for children ages 4-8, 9-11, and 12-15. The Leader will identify and confirm all safety requirements for each activity. Leaders will interact with parents/guardians and participants regularly, and ensure they are engaging, participating, and creating an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible program. Leaders will report to Day Camp Coordinators under the direct supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator.

This position is held seasonally from June to August, 9 weeks. This position is full-time, five days per week with hours from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
